Do you know why Judas is black? The guy walked in, auditioned, and got the part. That's why he's Black.

It doesnt matter about why Judas is black, feck sake, Ted Neeley (Jesus) is white. I dont even think there are any Jewish singers in this film. Carl Anderson is an amazing singer and no one else could sing his songs in this film better. Why do people have to analyze things. Just watch the film, listen to the music and enjoy.

Judas was black in real life but the point is that Jesus forgave him. Ultimately, the film demonstrates beautifully that even though judas is black he is welcome in the kingdom of heaven. It's all about forgiveness. Also, Judas betrayed him so that makes it even more poignant! Also, subtle but nicely done, Judas wearing white thus implying that he has been changed from an evil black man to a good man.

I am not the most religious person, but over the years it seems to me that Judas loved Jesus the most. I find that strange but thats how it seems to me.

@WRI2012 Have you ever been responsible for the death of someone you love, few people have. To me his suicide proves that he truly loved Jesus, and could only have done what he did out of that love. Afterwards, he couldn't bear it. Otherwise, he wouldn't have cared. The only other possibilities are, he was greedy or resentful. In either of those two cases, he would have kept the coins and skipped town. Maybe with a twinge of guilt now and then, but nothing more.
