Arrived on board the Hawk on 4/10/1975 as a naive 17 yr. old boy. Became a man on the Westpac 75 cruise. Really sad watching the decomissioning video. So long old girl. Hope they make the museum of her in NC. I served V-2 division, arresting gear branch from '75 / '78.

The Kittyhawk. The Shitty Kitty...the USS Zippo! I was on the USS Oriskany, CV-34, back in the day....'73 through '79 and I knew about that boat!

Everyone I knew who served on it called it the "Shitty Kitty".

@takalua911 Captain Todd Zechinn wanted the boat to go through a typhoon a couple of times, he was kind of crazy yes.
