i don't feel like jumping into this debate, as it seems a bit heated, but i'll give my two cents, because this is a peeve of mine...

what i mean, though, is that throughout david's life, and joseph's life, and lots of others, there was a lot of killing. were either of those men evil? no. are they in Hell? most likely not.

@F22Rapter2468 I used to think that too, mainly because other christians told me so, but the hebrew word "ratsach" is used in the ten commandments for the act which results in death. It is elswhere used in the bible to describe what a lion would do to a person. There is another hebrew word which specifically means murder, but this word was not used in the ten commandments. Unless you think lions murder people, in the context of this question the command is thou shalt not kill.
