Five years ago Steve was a macho, no-nonsense cop. But unbeknownst to his police bosses, Steve longed to become a woman. Today Sarah Lurajud is New Zealands first openly transgender police officer.
For most of Sarahs 24 years in the police, she was living a lie. I made a conscious decision that that would be a secret Id take to the grave. In the force Steve was known as a good cop but in the end Sarah had to be Sarah. I was petrified of losing my job and didnt know how my colleagues would react. Despite the shock, she was appreciated as before. Sarah was and is a good cop.

  • How many other 'marcho cops' have something to hide?

  • I just spit coffee out of my nose.. This is epic!

  • Brilliant! Well done.....we all have our struggles, and I do not envy those of a transsexual. I raise my glass and my hat to you : )

  • @eccIefechan Actually I have an aunt that looks like her. She's a woman. I know, that's probably hilarious to you but it isn't to me. The WOMAN in this video looks familiar to me and maybe that's why I left the comment I did. But in any case, the point is not what she looks like, it's that she's strong enough to be who she goddamn is goddamn it! And shame on you if all you can think about is the outside! Good day.

  • @kekakukakeku

Are you blind? This person just looks like a middle aged man with a bad wig!

  • omg she was a hot man hahaha

  • Courage

  • What a transformation

  • One of the benefits of being a transsexual cop - if someone discriminates against you because of your gender identity, you can always 'cuff them and take them downtown.

  • Thankyou for posting this as a pre -op transsexual about to embark on my gender correction surgery i found this film inspiring and rewarding in realising im not alone and im not wrong for feeling proud of who i am .... :)
