It was made ofr Channel 4. RTE Never rejected it, they were never pitched by arthur matthew or Graham Linehan. The two were living and working in England at the time.
That whole "RTE Rejecting Fr.Ted" was just a rumour.

About that whole dreams vs reality thing.... I though these guys are Catholic clergy. Don't they get audio and visual hallcinations (messages) from God which transcends the boundaries of Father Ted's "dreams vs reality" diagram? Like what if they see the ancient St Patrick beam down infront of them glowing and angel wings, Ted can't see it, but Dougal CAN... did Dougla confuse dreams and reality again Ted?

Dermot Morgan had a priest character before Father Ted. Perhaps his own programme based around that character was what was rejected. He didn't create the programme Father Ted - the was Linehan/Matthews and they never pitched to RTE. They wrote and created it with him in mind.

Rte rejected Dermot Morgans idea originally; I'm telling you that straight from the horses mouth. The man who rejected it said at the meeting said it was boring nonsense. Maybe what you mean is that Matthews/Linehan only came on board after that? I'm being charitable here, otherwise you're completely wrong :-}
