In a lively exchange with presidential candidate Mitt Romney, New Hampshire Alliance for Retired Americans President Charlie Balban asks if he would raise Social Security payroll cap for wages over $106,000 to pay for SS benefits for people under 55. Romney says he won't do that, it would be raising taxes. A woman calls out, "We're just asking for everyone to pay at the same rate." He says he would rather gradually raise the retirement age (a benefit cut for the young) and limit benefits (he says for the wealthy) by linking their growth to the CPI instead of the (faster growing) wage index which is currently used.
