Wow, any somewhat skilled hacker could easily just strip off the isolation of that cat5 and probe it with a spare cable, only tools needed would be a cable cutter and a stable hand. This way would be hard to detect if done right, causing minimal interference and no actual packet loss as opposed to replugging the cable into a hardware sniffer. If you would also wear an orange vest with the word "maintenance" on it nobody would question you sitting there with a laptop either.
It needs a lock.

my friend found one open uncapped all the wires,then went back got a can of expandable foam,stabbed a pinhole on it and stuffed it inside :P

i would have ripped those wires out :P
they dont try that here in detroit because we'd steal them as fast as they were installed.
