Bolivia sees the benefit of rising food costs - 07 Jul 08

Soaring food prices around the world are putting greater hardship on the world's poor. But head to different parts of the world and you will find places where rising food prices are having a positive effect.

In Bolivia for example, the greater profitability of crops like rice and coffee has farmers at last making a switch the international community has long wanted - away from growing coca.

Leaders there say the change is causing a revolution in Bolivian agriculture.

Lo digo yo un camba que e estado en La Paz creo que es una ciudad muy linda pero la van a pagar muy caro por apoyar al gobierno de Evo por que ahora se acabo el tratado de comercio con USA y cientos de miles de alteños se estan quedando sin trabajo solo por apoyar a la gente del chapare en otras palabras apoya a los cohbambinos y cago a los paceños que ilogico siendo ellos los que lo mantienen en el poder, y asi es este Evo primero la caga y luego analiza.

I love visiting Bolivia, I hope their economy gets a lot better, but their old government owned companies usually fail. It is easy to start a company, and governments usually do a bad job running them.
