This is an ACER Aspire 3680 that came with Windows Vista Home Basic and a built in WiFi card that was not Linux compatible. I put in a High Power Buffalo WiFi card and took out the built in WiFi card. I then updated alsa and jack and configured the Intel sound to work. Everything works great as you can see and is very fast. Vista on the other hand well it speaks for itself.

  • I have an AMD 64 Turion computer I completely whiped out Windows XP Now my computer is an expensive paper weight? Can anyone point me in a direction of how I can get an operating system back on this laptop?

  • @bornkool get JULinux8 Stable and burn it to a DVD. Boot off of and install it.

  • well i have a acer aspire 5610z and its fucking fast foo, any way i can conect to the internet by wired netword, how do you connect to a wireless network whith password help??

  • Take the wireless card out and put an external wireless (usb or PCMCIA) card in.

  • Here is an update guys. Instead of PCLinuxOS use Ultumix at mindblowingidea dot com / Ultumix. It works better than PCLinuxOS 2007 and it is easier for Windows users than Ubuntu or PCLinuxOS.
