On Saturday, September 27, Wisconsin & Southern offered free train rides from McFarland to Madison and back as part of a community festival.

As usual, E9A WSOR 101 and the three ex-CNW/Metra bilevels made up the consist.

We first see the train leave the boarding location at Arnold Larson Park in McFarland. As with the Gandy Dancer Festival rides out of Mazomanie in July, the cab car led on the outbound leg and the locomotive on the return.

Next we see the train cross Siggelkow Road twice, on the outbound and inbound trips. Finally we move to the Terminal Drive overpass to catch the next inbound trip.

  • i wonder where they bought the e-8 from?

  • @amp8852089 It is an E9 and has been owned by WSOR CEO Bill Gardner for a long time. Two decades ago it was used for his short-lived Scenic Rail Dining dinner train project. I believe it was Alaska Railroad before that.

  • nice to see some classy e 8 locomotive power

  • I remember when ATSF put me in an old EMD F7 in 1950, 1948 to 1950 I was operating an old Baldwin 2-6-2 and 4-8-4. This is great looking old EMD E9. Great video of an old memory :-)
