Some saw Donovan as Britain's answer to Bob Dylan, but whatever he was he was terrific, and he took "Sunshine Superman" to #1 on the U.S. charts in August of 1966. Born Donovan Philips Leitch in Glasgow, Scotland, he developed polio as a child which left him with a limp. Donovan was profoundly influenced by the folk music he heard as a child and began writing and playing his own music in his teens. "Sunshine Superman" was his "introduction" to American audiences with a brilliant recording production by Mickie Most.

  • Great, and genuinely classic, stuff! Thanks Donovan, wherever you are!

  • now used on the new Ebay tv advert in the UK

  • This definitely sounds like a Quentin Tarantino movie.

  • The 1960's had many influential artist but Donovan Leach was one of the Giants. I dig his music still and I wasn't even born in the 60's, just grew up listening to him on the radio. Besides, he was hot when he was younger. I would have loved to have"blown his mind"!!

  • any trick in the book!

  • holy shit. now i understand what superman means. it about ego loss.

  • The Sunshine melts in your mind ..if you were in Calafornia in 1969

  • This typically 60's number knocks spots off all the talentless twats of today with their X-Factor bollocks and the like. If only the great unwashed could learn to love decent music again but don't hold your breath :(

  • Does Jimmy have the guitar up a 1/2 step?

  • this is bob dylan on acid. bob was more down(er).
