Inauguration Academic Procession - Stony Brook University

The Stony Brook University community came together on October 23, 2009, to celebrate the inauguration of President Samuel L. Stanley, Jr., MD, a renowned biomedical scientist and former Vice Chancellor for Research at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Stanley became only the fifth president in the Universitys history, a 50-year span that has seen Stony Brook take its place among Americas most dynamic public universities, becoming an essential part of the regions economy and a center of cultural excellence. Dr. Stanley promises to build upon this legacy to shape an energetic response to the challenges of the future.
