  • that is exactly what the rule of thirds is NOT. The rule of thirds is about placing elements in the lines that INTERSECT the nine blocks. filming something dead center is something you should AVOID.

  • Not necessarily, everything that happens in a movie is essentially a story element. Cameras can be used to determine story by the way you choose to shoot it. So it's not JUST visceral.

  • QUESTION: if i shoot a movie with a digital camera is that digital cinema, cinematogrophy, or film? total noob sorry...also whats a good digital camera for a beginner to start making movies with aswell as what editing software for pc? i have a dslr is that good enough?

  • @timewarptelevision you're right, but that was not my point.

  • @marijnator You can film something any way you want. There are no RULES of making films.

  • what camera do you use ????

  • good for you

  • Future Flim maker right here BABY!!! lol

  • Having a steady hand?! Pan is moving your camera across the frame?!

What the hell are you talking about?

    Story determines everything.

    Camera work is visceral.

  • The best way to learn good camera work is to buy a 16mm bolex for no more than $350, then buy a roll of plus x reversal film ($25) and shoot that 2.30 minute piece. Get it processesed, then project it at a local library (if they have a projector, mine does) After this, buy a roll of vision 3 500t ($30-50) or EXR, V1, v2 for $10-20 get it processed. You have just learn't excelent cinematography for no more than $450. Film forces disciplined shooting as it is your $50 on the line.
