From 1952 through 1980, Emery Gulash, one of the nation's most respected 16mm film photographers chased the Union Pacific through its sparkling history.

In Volume 1 of this series, you'll follow Emery and his Bolex cameras through the end of steam and into the first generation diesel era. Then you'll go along with him as he spends a good part of a year chasing that well known Northern type steam engine 8444 in his story called 'The Year of the 8444' The Northern interfaces with many of the U.P. crack 'City' trains and freights as well!

Many freight and passenger trains, turbines and first generation diesels are also covered in this two hour train chasing extravaganza! You'll also visit many locations of the U.P. such as Denver, North Platte, Sherman Hill, Ogden, Chicago, St. Louis, Green River, Council Bluffs, Cheyenne, Rawlins, etc...
