Who cares who you think is best, who hits the highest note or the lowest note - I would be willing to bet anything that these men and those from other groups were much more interested in lifting high the name of Jesus while they sang His praises then they were in who was the best. It is about Jesus, not us!

Wonderful job, Statesmen!!!!!
-
James Big Chief, but JD Sumner has the record in hitting the lowest note, and is in the guiness book of world record...
-
The legendary lowest bass sing in Southern Gospel Music was the late JD Sumner of: Sunshine Boys, Blackwood Brothers, Stamps (backup for E Presley) and the Masters V.
-
JD Sumner sounds more like the man I am thinking of. Thank you!

I don't believe it was Big Chief in the documentary. You're probably referring to JD Sumner. While Chief is my favorite bass, JD could go lower, but I prefer Chief's sound over JD anyday.
The reason I know that you're not talking about Chief is that he didn't get much older than this. He died at age 50, so this is probably only a few years prior to his death.

the bass here is James "Big Chief" Wetherington

The man in the first verse; the bass. Isn't he one of the lowest bass vocalists in Gospel music history? I saw a short biography on Gospel Music channel 1-2 years ago and he ( lowest bass vocalists in Gospel music history). But he was much much older. What's his name?

Doy Ott had such a rich and smooth voice. Just great!

I love this song.

that's a wonderful song!!

GREAT!!!!

Chief sang this an octave lower on the recording. Sounded better and he handled it with ease, so I don't know why he brought it up. Enjoyed it, thank you.
Great song! Excellent audio/video quality.
Could you please provide the source of this one?
Thanks.

Most of my video comes from Gaither videos that I have on my hard drive.

You should be able to find these at the Gaither store, note the word should, they are quite old so I don't know if they are still around.
