Jin-Yu Man Tang House full of Gold and Jade (composed by Y.S. Tung)
Unlike the previous two orchestral arrangements of Taiwanese folk tunes, this original piece was composed by Y.S. Tung in 1975 for a full size Chinese orchestra with emphasis on wind and percussion instruments. Mr. Tung is a well-known educator and scholar of traditional Chinese music as well as the first Chinese orchestra conductor in Taiwan. In this composition, a well-known Chinese folk tune was adopted to depict the very energetic and merry spirit found in a typical harvest festival in the agricultural society of the past. This energetic passage is played by the Yun-Luo, ancient Chinese pitched gongs with a unique crystalline tone quality. Accompanied by the very bold timbre of wind instruments, vigorous percussion (Luo-Gu, Chinese gongs, cymbals, and drums) patterns, and mellow sounds from the strings, Yun-Luo takes the lead in this very intensive concerto-like orchestra piece. The main theme of this piece is the ancient Chinese saying The constant tinkle of gold and jade jewelry everywhere in a gorgeous house symbolizes overflowing wealth, happiness, and luck.
Lovely performance...

I like that the ethnicities of the performers are mixed. Very refreshing to see other people then just natives of China helping to spread recognition for these ancient instruments.
