where are ppl finding those hair bands that are SUPER stretched??? I tried to do this wit a normal sized head band and it snaped :( on the second wrap around

I'm curious about something...whenever I attempt to style my afro into a poof or anything there's always a section of hair in the back that is more drawn up than the rest of my hair and makes it appear shorter in the back and uneven. I've stretched this hair out and if it wasn't so drawn up my fro would look a lot more even. What would you suggest I do about this as far as styling my hair without cutting it. Thanks for any help.
