Though loads of people think they are, these machines aren't too tough. Found one that works, woohoo :)

  • I have the HS version of this, with 7/12 and 15 ips, for some reason when i switch it to 15ips, it still going at 7/12 for some reason.... but its a great machine

  • There's a motor control print beneath the power supply, that might need some revision.

  • I dunno I still own a revox a77 all silver model a little older than this one. Bought it used in 1969 it still works.

  • That's probably an MK-II.

Keep it running, standing still is the worse you can do for these machines.

  • Stijnkraft is full of shit.

These babies were the low cost Studers and hung in real good in real studios. Brakes got loud but still worked, counter belts died but the SOUND making parts lasted, and lasted, and lasted...

And I am NOT talking about EARLY models (before gen 3)nor about flea market finds (!) but about what they really did and will do if you get a good one...

TEACS never made it in "real" studios, TASCAM was never close to a STUDER...

  • Oh my how friendly you are.

There's no way an A77 will keep running without replacing a lot of stuff. And that's a pity. They're not as reliable nowadays as they were in the early days.

But Hey, I'm full of shit anyway.
