  • Wow...you guys have some voices. Best sound i've ever heard vocal wise for this song. beautiful harmonies. awesome job!

  • Very Nice performance. Seeing all the comments has given me a giggle too. I totally agree that the beauty of music is that it is not set in stone. Its open to a plethora of different interpretations, each as beautiful in their own right.

(My favorite recording happens to be on this CD if people have Naxos/Spotify: Naked Byrd (Armonico Consort))

  • @redbrian3655 :) Thanks. Good comeback to you too! Haha i didn't even realize how old that comment was. :P

Anyway, you're absolutely right about the metronome marking, and it really is up to the conductor on how to interpret that. Besides, even if it was written down, the conductor doesn't HAVE to take it that speed. It's more of the composer's opinion on how the piece should be rendered. Therefore, I don't see the point in anyone STILL arguing this. It won't change anything either way.

  • @Rockrgrl4 Great comeback! Pearsall wrote no dynamic markings and the person who mentioned that the metronome marking was 66 was looking at only one edition. The Carfaber Edition has a recommended marking of 74..... let people interpret differently. That is what making music is all about. Keep your maturity when others cannot.

  • Very nice. I personally find the tempo spot on; a bit more dynamic contrast for an even better performance.

  • @ICBenefitConcert26 It's marked at 66. They are doing it at about 68 or 70.

  • @MooMooMilking i totally agree! music is about interpretation and the fact that pearsall wrote it with no dynamics further proves that fact. it's up to the conductor to take it how he wants. everyone sees music a different way, and posting nasty comments on youtube won't change the conductor's decision. grow up people, seriously. i'm only 16 and i'm mature enough not to make nasty comments, so you can too.

  • ommggg you have some very talented singers!!! especially the tenors..they're strong and really help bring out the beauty and brilliance of this piece. :) i loved it. great performance!

  • Dynamics are terrible. No contrast.. No phrasing at all. But, truly amazing voices! 3/5

  • Did you make it at auditions? I'm so glad I did, this is my 6th year going!!! :)
