Once a dominate force in boxing with such major names as Chavez, Carbajal, Gonzales, Barrera, and Morales. Mexican boxing in the past year has lost it's grip of it's boxing supremecy. In the wake of the land slide victory of Manny 'Pac-Man' Pacquiao over 'The Golden Boy' Oscar De La Hoya in 2008, even Mexican American boxing is no longer what it used to be. This past year we saw many of Mexico's sons beaten, beaten up, and defeated.
Begining in January with the total destruction of Antonio Margarito in front of a sold out Staples Center in Los Angeles by future hall of famer Shane Mosley. Other notable losses by Mexican or boxers of Mexican heritage this year include Jorge Arce, Alfredo Angulo, Chris Arreola, Edgar Sosa, Victor Ortiz, Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Diaz, Ulises Solis, and Juan Manuel Marquez.
It begs the question: Is Mexican boxing dead?
Well inbetween the KO'd pile of Mexican boxers THREE young athletes amerged. All three from distinct parts of the country of Mexico, all three very young, all three with the Mexican heart, and fighting spirit that once send chills down their opponents spine's. And with one who at the tender age of 19 is already being called the next 'Chazez'.
These are the Three Mexican boxers to follow in 2010.

Saul has recently signed with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, and is scheduled to fight on the Mayweather vs Mosley or Marquez vs Khan undercard.

I guess you meant the top 3 prospects because these definitely aren't Mexico's best. Have you guys ever seen Abner Mares fight? He's way better than these 3. He's originally from Mexico(or his dad is at least) but currently resides in Cali. Lastly, I'm not too impressed with Canelo. He lacks a little bit of some things and alot of a few others.

@mystrol3-Yea Angulo has that loss thats the danger when you fight real opposition and are not protected. And Margarito wasnt always a punching bag, Cintron fought him when alot of fighters wouldnt...twice. Angulo has koed fighters like Tsurkan, Julio, Alcine and Rivera. Does Angulo need work? Fuck yea! But he has alot of potential.

canelo is head and shoulders above ANCULO and mares. enough of the hating bullshit! culo lost to cintron and has no true bxoing skill. mares is just above average just look at their fights!
