@endgiver999 For the worse? how would you judge that exactly? you'd say the death metal Therion fans are better than the symphonic metal Therion fans? Therion had problems making any money as a straight up death metal band. if the had continued on the path it's debatable if they'd even still be around today.

@JudgeSpektre no, they just don't want it to do a completely different thing.people listen to a band because they like the style,if you are going to change that so much that you'll end up in a different genera than you are probably going to lose some fans especially if the change is for the worst .success?that depends on what you call success.i think is more about 'who' listens to it not 'how many'

Therion has experienced far more success since their 95/96 transformation than they ever did as a straight up death metal band. you still have a few "purist" fans out there who won't listen to them after they changed styles though. it's like they just want a band to do the same thing for thirty years or something. i guess there's nothing wrong with that but i'm not in the group.
