@ConorTESP My dog was trained to be a protection dog when he was young. If I had to worry about someone repelling his attack by grabbing his ears, I'd be ashamed to call him a guard dog. German Shepherds make for great guard dogs, no crop or dock needed. Rottweilers are great guard dogs, they only get a dock. Pit bulls even make guard dogs, they get only a crop. It's cosmetic but if you say so.

@mjfromga89 Actually when the owner wants them to be a guard dog, they dock and crop so any perpetrator can't grab their ears/tail and harm them. But yeah most times it is unnecessary.
