Hillary Clinton has received many dollars from the healthcare industry. Her plan for covering all Americans who cannot afford healthcare? Require them to buy insurance. Dennis Kucinich's plan differs: a not-for-profit system that is free for all Americans, paid for mainly by the top 5% income earners, *not* by people who cannot afford it. (Source: H. Res. 676. • Who's paying for it?

I live in Australia where we have "free" health care and, guess what, our system is in shambles. I pay $24 on my power bill for ambulance service and still they are in dire straights. Nothing is free in life people. This plan is nuts. Feel sorry for you Yanks.

  • I dare say the U.S. health care system is also in shambles. As listed in H. Res. 676, the plan would be paid for by the top 5% of income earners, by a small and progressive excise tax on payroll and self-employment income, and by a small tax on stock and bond transactions.

  • You are insane. There is no such thing as a "small" tax. They always get bigger. Why would anyone in America want to work hard, invest, and take care of their families if socialists, like yourself, want to punish them for doing so? Most people who promote this health care system in the US have never lived with it.

  • American health care costs are out of control--pills cost way too much, procedures cost way too much, insurance companies pocket way too much (31% of health care costs go to executive salaries, advertising, and profit). Americans are paying way too much feeding these corporations. Small businesses in America are losing the ability to attract talent because they cannot offer health care plans that can compete with those of larger companies. Please do some research.

  • Cut out the middleman in our health care system which is the insurance companies! I'm sick of paying my insurance premiums and getting turned down for health care services because it's not covered under my insurance plan?? What is that?? I was turned down for the anesthesiologist for a surgery because they said he "wasn't necessary"??? It was a costly surgery and I PAY for insurance!! It's ridiculous and it MUST stop NOW!!

    Kucinich '08!!

  • oh give me a break...this is the problem that i have with democrats its a fricking kumbaiyat fest until things really have to be taken care of and then we get screwed paying the bill...come on you know that free means cheap and you can't do that to health care..put healthcare on the open market like cell phones and cars and force companies to compete for your business like they do with auto insurace--sorry i am voting Ron Paul

  • Small business shouldn't have to provide health care. People should keep their money and buy their own insurance. You can die in the US because you can't afford care or you can die in Australia on a waiting list. Either way, the government is involved. The US has cutting-edge tech. Foreigners travel to the US for specialist surgery/equip. that can't be had in socialist systems.

  • He's American now and he owns you. Rupert Murdoch is a fascist.

I live with universal health care, do you?

  • Quiet, yet somehow very loud and clear!
