Mega Man 9 Final Boss Wily - No items used (E-Tank & 1/2 Dmg)

Beating the final boss (Wily) in Mega Man 9 without using the 1/2 Damage item or any healing tanks.

This is also the first time I beat Wily, thought if I could come this far without using E-Tanks I could as well get the achievement.

When I searched YouTube for killing Wily without any items I found nothing, I wanted some tips how to do it but most videos were using healing items, others only showed one or two forms of Wily. I made this video to help those who want to beat him without using any healing items or 1/2 damage (Beating him without 1/2 damage wasn't really intended at first, I only did it because I diden't have the item hehe). I also want to add that this is probably not the best way of beating him, or the coolest. But it is my way, I diden't look at any FAQ's or guides how to do it.

First Form:

Try and hit a egg that comes when he is almost going to change from walking right to left. Hit it first while you are jumping then stand on the ground and hit it twice. You should try and stand on the ground when you are hitting a egg for the third time to increase your chance of damage him. I ignore the second egg he throws(?) at me. If you do it right you will find you get a good rythm which makes it easier to avoid damage.

Second form:

Here he will do 2 different attacks, fire breath and stomping attack. When he is charging you he will breath fire, time your jump right and he will not hit you. I jump too early at one point as you can see. The other attack is when he is flying up and tries to land on you, run right and then left so he hits the right side of the screen, then jump and attack twice, run to the left and be prepared to jump right when he breathes fire (He will ALWAYS breath fire at this moment). It is pretty hard but if you continue to do it over and over you will get better.

Notice: The C.Shot does the best damage, but I find the M.Buster to be more fun, it also have better range.

Third Form: This is far the hardest of them, try and beat the other 2 forms without taking damage because you need all the life you can get for this one. Use the P.Ball. I know the range sucks for the weapon but it makes decent damage, try and hit him twice with the weapon everytime you get the chance, then it doesn't matter if you take damage because he will be dead before you. If he is high up where you can't hit him and he shoots the homing shots drop a black hole and stand behind it for protection, it is far easier than to dodge it. I think T.Blow also work if you have any ammo for that weapon, not sure though. If he shoots the lightning balls and you can't hit him try and mimic my jump (Easier said than done).

I hope this helps you and I am sorry for the Video/Audio quality, I used the soundtrack instead of the original audio (from the video) to get better quality, that's why you can't hear the shots e.t.c.

UPDATE: After some testing I found out that T.Blow works like the Black Hole, it is even better as it takes the whole screen.

I also want to point out that you can use the Black Hole and T.Blow to protect you from the orange lighting balls as well. I haven't showed this in the video though, sorry.

@dumdudidum While ignoring your language I do agree with you somewhat. In my opinion you should be able to save after each Wily stage so you're not forced to play through them in one sitting. They made it possible in Megaman 10 but only on easy which I don't agree with at all. It should be a feature for all difficulties.

On your specific problem with having to re-defeat the 8 Robot Masters I can only suggest you exploit their weakness which you are probably already doing. Keep it up!

Now beat the game in the fastest time without taking any hits. No items is nothing compared the runs that some people do.

Good show, but...The same strategy doesn't apply for Proto Man does it? He takes double damage so I'm assuming you'd be dead before Wily.

Also, I'm out of E-Tanks anyway when I fight him.

Just beat this, the secret to the first part is to try not to jump, if you keep hitting that bouncing ball from a low angle it'll more likely detonate on wily's face.

Also I got the quick draw achievement, I thought I was a goner because I forgot M-tanks refill everything, even health. Luckily I used it out of desperation and was greeted with that nice health boost.

I've had my console turned on for 4 days now, and still haven't beaten his last form without items :D This is what I call challenge!

(I'm getting mighty tired of beating the 8, though.)
