  • And.....WOW, you link the argument for drilling in ANWR to bombing another country and "killing people"? So you vow to never use percentages again for information or research purposes because of some Afghanistan thing?.....or only for the purposes that fit your agenda? The entire democratic system is based on percentages, votes, and majority. You can't discount other unassociated percentile stats because some other stat does not line up with your viewpoint.

  • 1/2 of 1% of the 1.5 million acres at just the Northern plain of ANWR would be tapped for oil. All of ANWR has over 18 million acres. Analogy: ANWR is an 18 hole golf course. About 12 square inches of the entire golf course would be looked at for drilling. If oil is found, a few blades of grass would be taken out from the entire 18 hole golf course. It's a no brainer. The ANWR debate is based on environmentalist extremes, not facts. The environmentalist groups have A LOT of influence in DC.

  • One half of one percent of *what* would be affected? I'm not clear on what you are saying.

You argue that 75% of Alaskans support drilling. 92% of the country wanted to bomb Afghanistan, but does that make killing people okay? Majority does not equal morality.

  • I wasn't being serious about Drilling in our National parks but you never know. Richard Pombo tried to get them drilled.

  • Alaskans are for it because it would create 250,000 -- 750,000 long-term jobs on the coastal plain. $2,000 doesn't go anywhere these days. Americans are FINALLY pissed off that we have a shitload of oil but we've been too "proud" to tap into our OWN resources. I saw this coming 10 years ago. And saying drilling ANWR would lead to "drilling in all of our National parks and national forests" is an obvious scare tactic aimed at those that don't know any better.

  • The only reason that Alaskans are for it is because they get checks up to 2,000 from the oil companies. Their Governor is a oil whore! Drilling in ANWR could lead to Drilling in all of our National parks and national forest.

  • One half of one percent would be affected by drilling. ONE HALF OF ONE PERCENT! 75% of Alaskans supoort it and it's in their own backyard! 9-16 BILLION barrels. Instead, let's beg the Saudis? We should have started 20 years ago and we would be LESS dependent on the Saudis today.

  • Hello Acie, I'd forgotten all about this recording. I enjoyed hearing it again. -Anna
