This was designed for a group of middle schoolers to give a brief overview of a complicated topic in artificial intelligence. We hope that you understand more after watching than you did before.

  • Very interesting video! I get from your presentation that true AI is difficult. But do you believe it is possible? Especially, do you believe computers may ever be sentient? That humans are sentient seems almost impossible, given the "rules." But here we are, thinking, conversing, creating.

  • Hey Largo! Good to hear from you, especially as I just subbed to you a few days ago. I almost want to classify "true" AI as genuine intelligence. The AI we use now is artificial because it can't think for itself - it can only solve problems exactly the way we tell them to. Adding a method for creativity would allow them to tackle any kind of problem and solve it reasonably well. If we did ever come up with a way for computer to truly think independently as an agent I would count it as sentient.
