Wing Commander Andy Green, a former pupil of Bydales School in Marske, was unveiled as the driver of the Bloodhound SSC (supersonic car) at London's Science Museum. The flying ace and team of engineers behind the £10m project want to beat Andy's current world land speed record of 763mph, set in 1997, by more than 200mph.
@chekkitProductions After the crash I don't think Richard Hammond will ever venture beyond the traditional/conventional road-car again as long as he lives.

A 200+ mph increase on top of the current land speed record of 763mph is, at those speeds an incredible challenge; But the sheer power of the rocket engine powering Bloodhound SSC should easily be able to breeze past the current record. But wether a 1000 mph run average can be attained by this car however is another question. Guess we will have to find out when it's ready and finished

Stuff the misinformation propaganda at the beginning of this clip! The one trillion spent on unjustified, illegal wars is about equal to the one trillion dollars Bush's tax cuts saved the richest 5% in this country.

@90fairladyz32
they are only going horizontally. you would need a thruster in a vertical position....
00LordBacon00 1 year ago
um do you mean 1000000 mph?
IMBOOBYFUL 1 year ago
@Sherlocksbumstead well... the earth spins at 1036 mph or something i heard once... technically if you were to drive the opposite to which the earth spins at that speed... and with a little magetism... its completely possible.
sorry.. just smoked a joint,. lmao
90fairladyz32 1 year ago
i'm looking forward to when one of these things can hit escape velocity and just leap off the earth. and i'm really tired so no, i'm not even gonna bother researching that to see if it's even freasable...no wait, i kno it's not...i think

Not a bad idea putting together two of the official videos but shame you couldn't get the aspect ratio correct!

It has to according to the rule book, there had been other vehicles faster than SSC but they only had 3 wheels and could not steer so they were not recorded as a record breaker
dynamicz108 2 years ago
a 10 mile turn xD

nice to know, never thaught about that
AccAkut1987 2 years ago
They were frightened by gyroscopic forces in having two front wheels turning the same way, so they have two tandem rear wheels turning in opposite directions.

Yes it can... if you watch the on-board footage from thrust SSC you can see Andy Green actually applying oppsite lock... quite alot of lock infact, I assume bloodhound will be as maneuverable if not more so than SSC since bloodhound has a more conventional wheel layout and steering system.
tomcornwall83 2 years ago
It can, and it has to be controlled by a driver, to be accepted by the FAI. A computer would have done better work I guess, but that is not allowed :)
ingareinar007 2 years ago
the SSC has rear wheel steering! As crazy as that sounds. Green even called it the fastest forkwheel truck ever
AccAkut1987 2 years ago 2
well the front wheels are internal so id say no
seinfeldfan7898 2 years ago
no not when its goin fast.....like when its in a garage or something, like when its goin 5 mph, can it turn by itself or does it have to constently be on a truck when it has to be moved
5hak3itup 2 years ago
if it can, id wipe-out and roll, keep rolling. then id be nothing but a rock
seinfeldfan7898 2 years ago 2
does it turn left and right?
