The Wells Fargo Center for Small Business & Entrepreneurship (WFCSBE) is located in the College of Business and Economics at California State University, Northridge.
The center offers business consulting services to for profit and not-for-profit organizations. Our objective is to analyze their business and to formulate realistic suggestions to improve their performance. The total value of the WFCSBE is to significantly impact the life of individuals interested in entrepreneurship. Students gain invaluable practical knowledge, clients benefit from a customized outstanding voluntary service to improve their performance, and the Wells Fargo receive positive word-of-mouth for their association and support to the center.
Once a year, we invite our stakeholders to join us to celebrate and share with us the success the center has contributed to. During this event several teams present and compete in a 60 seconds investor pitch. This is a unique event held in Southern California where students learn to talk to investors by crafting a 60 seconds message to get their attention. After their pitches the audience is allowed 15 minutes to vote for the 2 best pitches. Then, the 2 best 60 sec- pitches present a 2nd 8 minutes pitch with a more elaborated message and power-point for the audience again to vote for the best one. This competition also called elevator pitch is simulating and training students for a real business skill necessary to get financial support essential in entrepreneurship.
