  • Under the old points system Jeff would've won the 2004 and 2007 championships, making him a 6 time champ. Jimmie Johnson would've only won in 2006 and 2009 (barely over Jeff and Tony Stewart in '09). So in all fairness, it should be: Jeff 6, Jimmie 2 I hate the chase!!

  • I love the part at 0:36 when they touch and the commentators go WHOA! Why can't all commentators be excited like this. I wish I'd have The Fox guys all season, because ESPN still lacks in their broadcasting. I'm a commentator for my town's High School Football game and last night we had such an exciting night I nearly lost my voice.

  • @Cobra51607 Because the current system is a joke. The person who has the best year should be the champion. Jimmie is a 2 time champ Jeff is a 6 time and thats a fact.

  • lol, jeff cant take jimmies car away u IDIOT.....jimmie is the money maker along with dale....geezus ppl

  • why r u guys talking about the OLD point system? who CARES???? this is the present, talk about the PRESENT point system...GO 48!!!

  • @wreckjimmiejohnson Jeff's the Jimmie's car owner so I bet he's happy for that 2nd place finish!

  • @Gforcebond I don't completely disagree with you about not knowing how anyone would've raced had the past several years been raced under a different points system, but yeah the point I was making was that JJ would not have been a 5 time champion. There should be an asterisk next to each of those championships in my opinion because you can't compare it to the multiple championships of Petty, Earnhardt, Gordon, Waltrip, etc who won based on an entire year of consistency, not just 10 races.

  • I had to do this in two parts. But i do agree with your point. You're bascially saying Jimmie doesn't deserve to be a 5 time champion. I can agree 2 that. Part of the reason that 48 team is so good in the chase is b/c almost all their best reacetracks are in the chase. That's HUGE. the 48 team is good everywhere, but if you look statistically at their best tracks almost all of them are in the chase. IMO they should switch it up for each year. Instead of having the same stagnet 10 tracks doOthers

  • @lollypop2414

I prefer the old points system, but to say a Jeff orsomeone else "would win under the olds points system" is just theory. You say it as fact. We'll never know who would have been champion under the old points system. I understand you added all the points up for that year to determine that, but how do you know that's where they would have finished otherwise? Guys race differently under certain situations. So do teams how they prepare a racecar.

  • Oh no he didn't

  • @FastKartn48 Jeff Gordan only won 4 championships bud. He has'nt won hes 5th one yet
