Introduction

• Many people have fax machines and would like to get a copy of incoming faxes sent to their email. This for the most part has been rather challenging process for even the most seasoned geek!

• It is important to note that many companies have selected to outsource the fax to email function rather than do so in house. In our course today you will learn how to send faxes to email addresses without having to pay a monthly service fee to an external company.


Step 1 - How to configure Windows XP built in Fax Application

• Attaching fax images to outgoing fax emails


Step 2 - How to configure AutoMailer Freeware
• Where to download the application
• Installing the Application

• Configuration of the application
• How to prevent common errors use ; not , or :
• Setting up GMail as SMTP Server
1) In your email client software, under Outgoing mail, set the SMTP server to smtp.gmail.com.
2) Set the your username is yourgooglemailname@gmail.com and make sure "Use username and password" is checked.
3) Also check off "TLS" under "Use secure connection."

  • Thanks for posting this video. I have a question, if someone wouldn't mind helping me out -- if I use Windows XP faxing to receive faxes (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Communications > Fax > Fax Console) what would I use for my fax number that I could give to someone who wanted to fax me something? Do I use my telephone # and what format would I use e.g. 1-210-123-4567 (with dashes)? Thanks to anyone who can help out.

  • Provide your number without the 1 the sender would add 1 if they call via long distance. I think it works with and without the dashes

  • I have no install video for Vista, you would be better off using an old computer just for this purpose.
