@masterplanisnoplan I take it you like Ron Paul?

It's a war between those who are religious and believe marriage to be a sacred bond between men and women, and of course those who disagree. It insults people deeply on both sides to even consider the alternative, though, it is thanks to our democratic society and the recent growth in atheism and such that this has even become an issue. Society is really strange in the way we bicker about silly things.

@masterplanisnoplan Well you could but if the state doesn't recognize it. Then you get no benefits from being a married citizen. Hospital visits, power over the estate should one die, tax benefits, insurance benefits, adoptive rights, should they die at war, etc.
You need consent from the Christian god to get married in this country whether you're a Christian or not ATM.

if you want to marry someone why even get permission from the state? theres the real issue, just get fuckin married.

@ibanez3000 immature.

Gays aren't going to make the world suddenly die out or kill the population. Loads of gay men donate their sperm to lesbian couples so they have kids and loads of lesbians carry a child for a gay couple.
It's called surrogacy and loads of heterosexual couples participate in it if they are incapable of having children "naturally" but of course, that's ok! Let's not ban the heterosexual couples incapable of having children, JUST THE GAYS.

@chachapc007 Is this a riddle, or pure stupidity?

NO NO to PROP 8

Nicely done. John is absolutely right. He says elsewhere that Prop 8 sets "a dangerous legal precedent." That really cuts to the heart of the issue. It's a legal matter, not a moral one. John Cho, you rock my socks.
