his voice isn't lacking. listen to the words he's trying to convey, his voice in this take make them that much more powerful.

I too at one time thought that Ben's vocals were a bit lacking. But then I realised that the potency or impact that I was used to hearing in someone like Otis Redding was replaced by the tenderness and that sense of vulnerability in his delivery. Where Otis said "Try a little Tenderness"... Ben Brings it to the table. He walks the tightrope without a safety net. He has the tonal control to be on the edge of expressiveness. I think he is the most stirring and inspiring musician today. RESPECT

i really like ben harper, love his guitar work and songs etc.....but wow the guys voice is really lacking....he COULD have been great.......oh well.

excellent work. Anyone know where you get the audio of this version.....? The Blind Boys version and the Ben Harper version (on their respective albums) are different ones, and not quite as good as this one IMO. This one is first rate work.

These Videos are available as additional content in Ben's Documentary Pleasure and Pain. Its a great film and totally worth purchasing.
