So flowing and very well grounded

You seem to have missed the point. Quan You passed what he learned from Yang Luchan (this fast form) to his son Wu Jianquan, who passed it on to Ma Yuehliang. There is some evidence that Yang Shaohou also practised the same form. Of course you will see elements of this form in all of the developed styles because they are off shoots of this "mother form", not the other way around.

That sounds more reasonable yes. Cause it's not likely that this is the form Yang Luchan and his son taught. It's quite clear that this is Wu's (and on some account even Sun's) lineage.
-
The lineage is through Wu Jianquan who had close contact with Yang Shaohou, Yang Chengfu and Sun Lutang when they were together in Beijing. It is reported that this was a closed door form learnt from his father Quan You (1834 1902) who was a student of Yang Luchan and his son Yang Banhou. Was the form modified? The back foot is typical of the Wu form, often parallel with the front foot. Same source I must conjecture for the tighter more upright Wu form. See Michael Acton do it with vigour.

In my humble opinion this can never be the form Yang Luchan taught. Some of the movements and postures are clearly from direct or indirect students of Yang Luchan. The stepping with the rear leg in some of the pushes for example are clearly Sun Lu Tang's 'style'. Sun was a student of Hao, who was a student of Wu Yu Xiang, who was a student of Yang Luchan. So that's a few generations later. Also some postures are clearly derived from Wu Yu Xiang's interpretation (position rear foot for example).

"fast form" hahahaah bruce lee sure is a snail against that :'D

Tai Chi's understanding of "fast" is like a "quick" Tree-Ent introductory "hello"
Even in Ma's 90s he shows an agility and balance we can all aspire to. Ma said this was the original form that Yang Luchan taught and that the family forms are derived from this "mother" form. It was certainly an inner door form until the mid 80s when he gave permission for it to be shown.

I am currently working this form, as taught to my Master by Wen Xu, a student and co-author of Master Ma. While we aspire to maintain absolute adherence to Ma's ideal, watching this video humbles me deeply. Ma was a true Master of this beautiful and precious art. Just weeks before his death, Ma reported to my grandteacher Master Xu, that we was making wonderful discoveries in his taiji practice....We could all learn from his humility and grace.
