Ah I see!

You should have thought about the shadow on the wall, manipulate it to look like a lightsaber
-
it was done by a color flash light. It was done with timing. The light on the wall was not done with after effects.
-
at the very end, when he retracts them, the shadow stays in place... very good edit though
-
maybe this is idk... AN ACTUAL LIGHTSABER THAT WAS ON AND HE USED AFTER EFFECTS OVER THE ACTUAL LIGHTSABER!
-
Your lightsaber has a shadow. This seems rather impossible

@SeACt2 It should happen when you turn it off.

Yeah as previously mentioned the shadow on the wall was distracting. I tried the beam too but it just wasn't as good as masking... But to save time instead of like 5-6 layers of masks with differant it's better to use the glow tool. Just offering this advice if the beam was an attempt at avoiding the many layers and complexity.

You are correct, the glow tool is much easier. But it can cause other things in the scene to glow unless you mask it. This was just a demo for someone I know; plus I was just really bored that day...
