Some examples of the art of Coin Popping. Coin Popping is a quick way of recovering a target with very little disturbance to the ground. It works best in dry ground, but can be done just about anywhere. You are limited in depth. Generally best for targets at 4" or less, but I have used this method on as deep as 6" targets.

  • What detector are you using in this vid? Sounds like R2D2...I love it!

  • I am using a Minelab E-Trac. Yes it does sound a bit like R2D2

  • omg.. I hope you dont scratch a rare one.. or bend the heck out of somthing,, thanks for posting the vid.. but.. I use the half plug method.. and still looks like no one was there.. and no risk or damage to a rare coin.. I have never seen this method..

  • It is important to KNOW where the target is and how deep. This means knowing your detector is a must. I've been detecting for 30 years and have always used method, and yes I have scratched coins in the past, but not in many years.
