@AJElectroMechTech I do have some advice for you. In this situation the gloves are necessary to prevent injury to your parrot. I do not believe the step up technique would work because of his fear/temper of his travel case. There are a number of unforseen injuries that can occur from chasing your bird around your home. Try buying a new travel case and acclimating it to the new mode of transportation by letting him explore it with treats etc. far before your next appt!

@LenaLonsdale please lets not devaluate the importance of all animal workers. I'm sorry you took offence to the reading comment there is some important information in earlier comments regarding this parrot. Part of solving the problem isn't criticizing, rather gathering information and making reccomendations. Using your eyes and ears is rarely enough, using your mind is key. Good luck to you!

@hamedsroor Thanks! He's become an entertaining, loveable part of our family and wouldn't have him any other way:) He'll outlive both of us, so yes..he'll be with us forever!

And Buddy, I'm glad I make you laugh - you make me laugh too.
Is this bird screaming because of the travel case or because of cage territory problems? I work in a veterinarian clinic and I see animals in a panicked state . Once at the vet it'd be wrapped in a towel, pinned down, beak & talons grinded, wings clipped and examined.-cruel and unusual treatment too! Thank you for taking time to care for your parrot appropriately, people really should read before speaking their mind

@RadBooLee A voice of reason..finally! He, from the time we've had him, has been terrified of his travel cage..and this production goes on every time we take him to the vet...once there, they follow the exact steps you listed and he responds very well...as well as a clean bill of health -- no feather plucking or bloodshot eyes..which is a clear indication that the parrot is stressed -- he has no cage territory issues and allows us to handle him quite easily:) Thanks for your post!

@RadBooLee I work at an veterinary clinic as well, specifically an Avian veterinary clinic. "Reading" had nothing to do with I said - I used my eyes and ears. And if you, as a veterinary 'worker??? techinician???' think it's wise for people to take the time to film their birds before they are oven-mitted - INSTEAD of being allowed to 'step up' before being put in their carrying cages.....that's disturbing. Good luck to you both.

@LenaLonsdale Lol "Stepping up" has never been an issue with him..as we both have no trouble getting him to come up on our hands, perches, spoons, etc. The fact that he throws this tantrum..and yes..that's all it is, is the reason for posting. There are plenty of videos out there showing very stressed out birds with much bigger issues! Go focus your negative energy on those who need it..I better not post the video of us dangling him above the stove for punishment..that may really set you off!
