Ligyro - good to see you nailed down what works for you, that's great. What you just saw is fortunately "dumbed-down," so ordinary folks like you can get the minimum info to properly transplant. Try NOT to "put some cut grass around to absorb water," B/C the roots from your turfgrass (sprigs) compete with the tree roots (which lie in the upper 6 inches of the soil and spread horizontally, not directly straight down. Trust me, I'm a Certified Arborist. ; )
i think your being way too technical about it. ive transplanted tons of trees in my backyard. ive never thought about it this much and my trees have always survived. just dig the tree out, dig a hole to put the tree in, put some cut grass around it to absorb water, then keep watering it every day. thats it
I tried this, but I injured the tree trunk part that is under the soil. Will the tree do well if just the bark is scraped off?
