Flash/Flash

"Flash/Flash" is a really simple piece I think, at the time I had taken a break from video for a few years so this was a way to get back into it. I wanted to make this garland of flashes from live videos I had accumulated of different hardcore bands from different eras. I've always been amazed at how many people were at shows taking pictures, sometimes it seemed that more people were playing photographer than listening. These photographer's flashes are the element that people try and edit out of video, but for me it created a new rhythm and opened the documentary quality of video to a more vulnerable place. A place where all the fleeting ghosts of youth rebellion were captured, distorted and preserved.
