Gia DeSantis - "Request Video"

This is Gia DeSantis. Gia was the one time host of an afternoon music video show called "Request Video." The show was on a local Los Angeles TV station (KDOC-TV) from 1986 to 1992. There wasn't anything like it on Los Angeles TV. The show was totally live with no delay. That meant anything could and did happen. And Gia was in the middle trying to keep it together.
These clips dates from January of 1991. It gives you an idea what Gia was like. As you can tell, Gia is a fun girl.
In November of 1992, Request Video was canceled. And Gia disappeared from the air waves.

If anyone knows what every happened to Gia, please e-mail me here at YouTube. Is Gia in some other part of the country working? Is she still on television somewhere? Is she still alive? Any info will be welcome.

By any chance, do you have the episode when Gia did the show drunk? It was the day of the KDOC Christmas party. Gia came on looking waisted, and was slurring her speech. She kept saying that she was on a sugar high. Yea right, sugar. Fermented sugar. She must have had a hangover after that show.

I would love to see that episode again. You know, post it on YouTube. It was too classic for words.

oh man. this is yet another reason why i LOVE youtube. i used to rush home from school just to watch this show. of the many times I called in to request a video, i think i only got in once. i had a big crush on Gia.

i even watched Wally George (after Request Video) or did he air before her? it's been so long. thanks for posting this video.

When I was in junior high, I watched this every afternoon. They had the BEST guests on and lots of great interviews. I regret not having been able to record the shows back then. I've been trying to recreate the experience ever since, but it'll never be the same. It had a profound influence on my musical tastes, random as they are. haha Thanks Gia for introducing me to everything from My Bloody Valentine to Skinny Puppy. :D

One day I discovered She was a DJ at KROQ and when I tried to check out her show she was ALREADY gone!!! AWWWWRRRGGGHHG. I still miss the Request.

I went to see the Mary Chain when they were interviewed. I was lucky enough to tell her to I thought she was the coolest and then give her a kiss on the cheek. Sigh........ LOL!
