Wondering if anyone can help me with some info? I competed from 1964-1968, with The Garand and the M-14 match rifles as a junior then. With the AR-15, what ranges are you competing at? Our matches were 200, 300, 600 & 1,000 yards. Many Thanks!

nice shooting! I the highest I've shot in sitting is a 98-5x. Threw two 9's out a 3. Hope to shoot at Perry in 2010, I've been meaning to go for there for years. good luck and shoot straight.

I was on target 98 and Gunny was on 99. This is the third year in a row that I shot on the target next to him. I talked to him for a little bit and managed to get a picture with him too. He's a really cool guy!
what you'd get for a score?

@243rem I had a 99-4x for this stage. I dropped one low just out of the 10 ring. I had a 477-10x for the day.

The event that you're watching is a highpower rifle competition. One stage of the event is called "200 yard rapid fire sitting". In this stage, you are given 60 seconds to fire 2 rounds, change magazines, and fire another 8 rounds. You are correct in saying that it really isn't "rapid fire". You have plenty of time to fire all 10 shoots in a nice slow cadence. The goal of this stage is not to fire quickly. It's to use the whole time to shoot well aimed and executed shots.
