William Tan Wee Liam (1928 - 2009).
We will miss the sweet soothing voice of Baba William Tan. William was to acknowledge repeatedly that the champion of dondang sayang, the late Baba Gwee Peng Kwee, was his mentor.
Among his contributions to the cultural scene of the Baba community were the three plays he directed: Buang Keroh Pungut Jernih (1985), Biji Mata Mak (1989) and Tak Sangka (1990); the sessions he conducted for the members of the Gunong Sayang Association; and the collaborations with authors on the Peranakan Chinese culture.
Performing with Baba William Tan was Nyonya Jessie Chiang and GT Lye.

bagus! tetapi nowadays we do not hear this or keronchong music. what a pity. the passing of an era, rich in culture! end of the peranakan culture. nothing will save it! :(

Wow, she said "By The Light Of The Silvery Moon." I bet she sings it very well too!
My own grandma & my husband's love dondang sayang. My mother-in-law, her brother,
& their mother, would always start a dondang sayang after Christmas lunch or New Year
dinner. This is the signal for my father-in-law to take a nap!!
