@Krys1304 jack tramiel created c 64 and you call him a n idiot? he was a good businessman. its his son who is to blame.

@Krys1304 In all fairness, the Tramiels took over an Atari that was broken and destroyed. They never had any resources or money with which to compete. They were always playing catch-up with little more than old machines in warehouses. True, they had many faults and their business mode was always in "cutthroat survival" mode (I still won't forgive them for killing Epyx), but I think they did the best they could.

The 600XL exists, but it's only 16K.

@zaphodb777 Tramiel was an idiot, but Atari still had some bloody good engineers, just that much of their work was never supported by management - i.e. the STylus and ST-Book. Some of their work was years ahead of it's time, but the people at the top were to blinded by their own ideas of what Atari should be to pay attention.
