FYI: -another nifty option is to replace the Esprit slant/4-banger with the compact aluminum Buick/Rover- ohv-215cu.in.(3.5L) V8; --a very light-weight engine that ColinChapman should have used in the first place! But no, he was obsessed with the desire for the torque-less less reliable and much more bulky overhead-cam 4-banger. The amazing diecast Buick alum.-block was later sand-cast by Rover (-thus a bit heavier); -thus the original 1977 L.Esprit could have had a V8 for same weight..!!

Word is that Lotus will be reintroducing the Esprit in 2012 with the Lexus V10 for its engine . cant wait for this !!

As an Esprit fan it's brilliant to see someone improving on the recipe! It's my favourite gen of the Esprit, and you've given it the oomph to back up the looks! Love that noise!
