Well what about the American soldier wearing an Australian slouch hat? What was that all about????

It had to be the must unauthentic show on TV, but we used to love it.

@Werribeesteve Sgt. Troy wore a slouch hat during the series. When 'The Rat Patrol aired in Australia, veterans of both World Wars were critical of Christopher George wearing an important symbol of Australian courage and sacrifice. It was seen as cheaping and sensationalizing the memory and spirit of the ANZACs, who died fighting Fascism. Christopher George, who was of Greek extraction, insisted his character wear the slouch hat to honor the Australians, who fought in Greece.

the germans are using a 30 cal american machine gun..and are driving american halftracks..and in many instances those are american assault guns..the priest..and the sherman in africa corp yellow was priceless

@stephanosmixail yeah i guess...but there was one ep the gestaqpo were represented..and thier uniforms weren't correct..a few people noted it....i guess i should just be grateful they came out with a pretty good show..but i'm a perfectionist now...i want it just right....hah hah

@1942PANTHERV most films due to budget restrictions make some terrible mistakes but at least they could get the uniforms and weapons correct.....

@stephanosmixail russia..thats the new business over there....junk dealers selling tanks dug up from the bogs and old battlefields...really awesome stuff.....cost alot less than what hollywood pays to make a t34 look like a crappy tiger..like in saving pvt ryan....

@stephanosmixail once i started getting into researching the war..building models....etc..i spotted the american tanks right away....now i believe the 1st time i saw an actual decent german tank was in kelly's heroes.....mind you i think it was a stripped down czech version..but it was decent..mind you in 44 they were mostly africa yello..not panzer grey....the next best one was in movie when trumpets fade...2 mk iv tanks..looked pretty good.....but i still think hollywood could get so0me frm

@Werribeesteve thats true...the german tanks and halftracks were american, the LRDG and the dessert rats were entirelly british,australian,new zeland and other european nations(no americans whatsoever).The americans entered the war in africa in 1943 (the show is placed from 1941 to 1943).Most of the uniforms are completelly wrong and the guns in half the first season are also wrong(spanish copy of mp40,germans with brownings.......)

I think Chris George died young as punishment for being a part of such a stupid show!
