This is a music video I produced with pics from my experiences with the II Marine Expeditionary Force in Desert Storm. Although I was an Armorer by trade (MOS 2111) I served in a 155mm Artillery BTRY out of OKC (F 2/14) attached to the 3rd Battalion 10th Marines 2nd Marine Division for Operation Desert Storm and had the opportunity to work on the gun line mostly with fusing and loading the artillery rounds, but - as shown in the vid - I also got a chance to bust a few rounds down range on the evil forces of Saddam ;) Also, a few of the images used are from magazines covering the combat I was involved in. God bless the US Troops, our Country, and may this video serve as a tribute to the men I served with who lost health, life, limb and made many sacrifices that will only be known to them and their families. SEMPER FI! And thanks to P.O.D. for making the perfect song to accompany this memoir of my Gulf War Experience.

  • OORAH from a fellow 2111

Aberdeen Prison Grounds don't teach nearly as much as you learn in Country, and AFIK they moved it to VA or some shit

  • @jubinizzle

Cool. Didn't know that. Yeah, just like most jobs - what you get in school just gets your feet wet. Funny how it includes a lot of stuff you ignore or never use.

  • Germansky,

SEMPER FI MARINE! Job Well Done. I would like to thank you for you service to our Great Nation and all that call her home. I too was down range during Storm, although serving in a different branch. Even so; we shall ALWAYS be Brothers At Arms. Welcome home brother.

With All Due Respect & Gratitude,

    GMGCM West

  • Nice tribute. And thank you for serving our country, it's you who keeps us great.

  • Man, it's been so long since I went to Small Arms Repair School in Aberdeen Provign Grounds Maryland (It's and Army Base) That I'm not sure I could answer your question accurately. I mean, I graduated from there in 1988. I've no idea what the program is like now.

  • I will say that what we learned in the 3 month course at Aberdeen combined with our experience working on weapons certainly gave us a great foundation for a career as a gunsmith, but, it would still take some type of formal civilian training or apprenticeship to prepare you to work in that field after your time in the Corps.

  • Honestly though, just being a good Marine will prepare you to succeed in any civilian career that you ultimately pursue. I mean, civilian workers are so crappy these days, your respect for authority, work ethic and "will do" attitude will make you stand out and shine like a 100K Diamond in a pile of 1oz marbles. I have gotten maximum raises and excellent evals every year in every job I've ever worked since getting out of the Corps in 1994.

  • @Brian0341 You're welcome, and Semper Fi.

BTW - always wanted to drop a mortar into a tube :)

  • @pdt203 Glad to hear it, Brother. Hope all is well.

  • very cool, I remember some of those places. LCPL Smith, F 2/14, 2nd Platoon FDC
