Don't forget that Carreras was the KARAJAN's favorite tenor

Retired? What are you talking about! He's actually planning to sing another opera soon. And as far as I know he's sining at least 20 concerts per year. Read

Lets not forget that Carreras spent many months in Seattle, Washington at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center for his bone marrow transplant for the treatment of Leukaemia. He is a cancer survivor and a hero in my book. He returned to opera in 1988 and retired in 2009. At 6 years old he had his first singing performance on radio as a Boy Soprano and continued for several more years as a boy soprano. His motto sums it up: "Make Every Day Your Masterpiece".

@nzyph You apparently don't listen to any early Carreras. This is without a doubt Carreras.
-
@turuanu wow, you need to listen to more early Carreras!! He had the best of Pav and Domingo. His early stuff shows his honest, fearless sound that Pav never had imho.

carreras was great in the early days, you wont find a better sung version on u tube

You are a really old whale in the world of opera! And quite conservative.
Our generation thinks different about these things. Carreras sang in Hungary at his prime in the 70th more times. And we could also enjoy live Domingo, Pavarotti, Cossutta, Gedda, Alva. And Di Stefano, Bergonzi and Monaco. Under the Russian bear. Are these tenors good enough according to your taste? I respect your openion, but don't agree with it. Carreras is great in this role.
