2 eyes 8 legs Phylum Arthropoda - Arthropods /
Class Arachnida - Arachnids /
Order Opiliones - Harvestmen

Harvestmen, also called Daddy Longlegs, are not spiders, but they are close relatives.

Unlike spiders, which have two main body sections, Harvestmen only have one. This one's body is about 1/4 inch long. Harvestmen have eight legs like a spider. The Harvestman also has a little knob on its head with two eyes. They don't possess silk glands, produce no webs, are non-venomous. They're generally carnivorous, feeding on live invertebrate prey. Some species prefer to dine on dead animals or juices from plants, fruits and veggies.

Harvestmen release a foul-smelling odor as a defense against predators.

  • @MegF142857 i see but what about the daddy long legs that's in my house? are they also called daddy long legs?

  • @stknfghtr1 Do you perhaps have Crane Flies in your house? They also have long legs and look like big mosquitoes flying around. Crane Flies aren't dangerous.

  • ive seen these on trees at the park or at the woods. are these things considered as spiders or arachnids? there legs are like mosquitoes...

  • @stknfghtr1 Harvestmen are not spiders, but are close relatives. Spiders & Harvestmen have 8 legs. Unlike spiders, which have two main body sections, Harvestmen only have one. They don't possess silk glands and produce no webs.

Spiders and Harvestmen are both of the Phylum of arthropod and Class of arachnid.

BUT... Harvestmen are the Order Opiliones. Spiders are the Order Araneae.

In description of the video are links for more information.

  • THE SONG TAUGHT ME SO MUCH MATHS.

  • @fraroc These aren't Spiders, they're Harvestmen. They have a single body instead of it being seperated in two which spiders have. They don't make webs, no venom whatsoever, and they have two eyes instead of 8.

  • My friend I thank you because you have uploaded a great video of one of the most commonly feared spiders, (which it is not.)

Most people say this is the deadliest 'spider' to humans, and they are to ignorant to the facts that say otherwise, with the Brown Widow and Wandering Spider are more lethal, and more potent in their venom then most actual spiders.

Now the one this Harvestman or Daddy Long Legs is confused for is known as a Cellar Spider, which they share the same leg length.

  • set it of FIRE!!!

  • @hardcoretrilogy oh i see. thank you very much for the very interesting facts. i have 1 more question. the spider ive recently killed, it looks like a black widow but the color is reddish-pink. when i smashed it, there was this web that came out of its body and its also reddish-pink. i have never seen any spiders like that before.

  • @stknfghtr1 you're thinking of a cellar spider, they're also called daddy long legs

  • How come the most harmless looking spider is the most scariest looking?
