A student decides she needs a decent grade after blowing off the semester. Teachers love this student.

When it comes to the end of the school year, grading finals and research papers can be miserable enough. The inevitable student that pulls in after a 2 month bender in Slacker City makes a professor like me want to stab myself in the brain.

Teachers can relate. If you can't, you will soon. Students are better off to just walk in and say, "I blew it. Can we fix this at all." Save the stories. Spare the excuses.

  • I found this pretty hilarious, but I really hope professors don't insult their students like that, no matter how terrible their performance is in class.

  • Typical failing student 'attempted' excuses

  • I think in some way, the teacher has been a failure as well.

  • @MPSecare what a badass

  • One class I was in a kid was just like "yo im fucking lazy"

  • @purplewowies We all do, but that's why this video was made...

Students will have these sorts of discussions at the end of the semester instead of working something out. It raises an eyebrow on so many levels because it's still their responsibility to work something out if special circumstances exist; since the teacher is taking care of hundreds of students it's the student's job to make personal contact. If the teacher makes this difficult then we can say the teacher is bad. But not before.

  • Honestly, I got sick for a month last semester (like, seriously sick. I had an ulcer, and for three weeks, it felt like someone was stabbing me with a dagger.), and I ended up with a ridiculously low GPA. And I blamed myself, even though it was technically because I was seriously sick. (I swear, if I ever miss a day again, it'll be because I'm dead.)

I hate people who try to cast the blame on everyone else in the world.

  • The biggest excuse I've heard is "I didn't know"... The student could have asked their classmates, e-mail their professors, or look at their syllabus. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

  • Hilarious!

My son is a first year university student and in one of his courses, the prof was handing back tests and all the failures had McDonald's and Wendy's job application forms stapled to them.....fucking brilliant!

  • @InnocentLittleBoy Unfortunately, yes.
