(continued part 2) In summary, most people transition like this: Experimentation of breaking gender role (cross dressing, etc.) > Change of Gender Identity (Transgender and all of its sub-types) > Operation and Hormonal therapy to change their assigned Sex (Transsexual).
Although it is tempting to classify all as "Transgender," it's important to remember someone COULD entirely skip the gender changing process and do a sexual reassignment immediately.
-
(continued) Transsexualism has a specific meaning that refers to the MEDICAL definition of their "assigned sex." By requisite, a true Transsexual must be on hormones and post surgery. Anyone else using the term is just misusing it (in the medical context).
That said, there are some psychologists that have published material in attempt to redefine the word by having a transsexual scale (outlining phases), but that doesn't make the original, root definition any different.

Check wikipedia for Transgender vs Transsexual.
It isn't complicated, but many people misunderstand how it works (including you at the moment). Transgender is not a general label (despite how the wikipedia is laid out). The latin literally means to change identity of sex-oriented behavior. It is entirely possible to have someone take horomones/have surgery while still identifying with their previous gender (although I couldn't begin to imagine why they would)
-
@fallendeacon A transsexual is someone who lives as and identifies as the opposite of their biological sex. Surgery isn't required, necessary, to live as the opposite sex. Transgender, on the other hand, encompasses a whole load of other sexual and gender variants - under which cross-dressing and transvestites would fall. People simply "dressing" as the opposite sex. But being transsexual is also under the transgender label. It's all very complicated, really. ^_^

@Dyaisuran But they would be quiet about it in general

@MASKROSE8 personal suggestion, if you want a guy that likes guys you have to act like a guy :X please don't take offense to that, it's meant to be constructive.

sir are you a homosexual !>?

@AliceSympathy Hello... You are misunderstanding the meaning of "gender" and "sex." Transsexual can only be a person who has undergone a sex change.
Google some sources or look up "gender" in the dictionary if you don't believe me. This is a fact.
Other than that point, what you said is exactly the same as what I said.

I'm very girly myself and would look for a guy who has masculinity to balance the relationship. I'd would guess most are girly but are there any masculine?

Just curious, is gay marriage allowed in Japan? Or is it still banned?

You say you don't think there's any beating up or gay vashing in the streets. Would you think it's possible that gay bashing may be more hidden and secretive in Japan, that maybe it's not something that would make the news?
I'm not accusing, I'm just interested if that sounds like a Japanese reaaction to a problem.
