@mississippique30 I know a whole mississippi band director association that would disagree with that statement. Bands may not perform cleaner than when you were in it, but show design and movement skills have become 10X harder since the 90s. Trust me I have watched enough videos as a future band director, and I was also drum major for a total of 5 years, 3 in high school, and 2 in college. I was also drum major of the 2008 MS Lions Band.

Me a tuba player.... No.  I was the drum major. I understand tone, intonation, musicianship, theory, aural skills, and all the things that college's equip music educators with to teach music.
